Well today has been exiting as London and surrounding area has had the first snow storm of the year. If you are like me you got out to the car and had no snow brush, no shovel handy and just not prepared to deal with the white stuff. For some unfortunate people they woke up with no electricity while others had tree branhes blocking the driveway. Whatever the scenario one thing is for sure, winter is on the way!
I wrote this blog today as a plea to everybody on the road, SLOW DOWN. It's not summer anymore, you can not speed,pass and handle corners like you are on a racetrack because it's slippery out there. The ditches were littered with cars as they are every year when the first significant snow storm hits. It's amazing how logic doesn't kick in when these people get into the car. If the ground is slippery to walk on then driving on it will be no better. For the body shop owners this is one of the best times of the year because all these meatheads who don't know how to drive are smashing up their vehicles.
Here are some no brainers for people who need help
- Is cold, it's slippery so slow down
- leave a little earlier, racing to work because you are late is a certain date with the ditch
- bring a cell phone, blanket in case you get stranded
- if it get's to bad then pull over,take a break
- if you spot problems call 911
Winter can be an enjoyable time of year London if you use a little common sense. Every winter people die on the roads from preventable errors while driving. DOn't be a statistic, drive safe and enjoy!
